Jakarta, Jan. 15 -- Communication and Digital Affairs Minister Meutya Hafid called for an active role of parents to supervise and protect children from crimes in the digital space, given their vulnerability to becoming victims.

In a statement on Thursday, she explained that the government has issued Government Regulation Number 17 of 2025 on the Governance of Electronic Systems in Child Protection (PP Tunas) to create a safer digital ecosystem for children amidst rising online risks.

However, she emphasized that the regulation will not be effective without the direct involvement of parents at home.
