Banda Aceh, Jan. 11 -- Indonesia's Home Affairs Minister Tito Karnavian has called for the deployment of an additional 15,000 military and police personnel to accelerate the removal of mud and debris left by floods in Aceh.
"I deem it crucial to speed up the removal of mud from roads, alleys, homes, hallways, and shops," Karnavian said during a meeting with Aceh mayors and district heads in Banda Aceh on Saturday.
Speaking as chair of the Sumatra Post-Disaster Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Task Force, he urged the National Police (Polri) and the National Armed Forces (TNI) to increase their presence to complete recovery efforts before the holy month of Ramadan.
