Jakarta, March 14 -- Minister of Religious Affairs, Nasaruddin Umar, has urged the Buddhist community to focus on the sacredness aspect during the national celebration of Vesak Day at Borobudur Temple.

He made the request during a meeting with monks and Buddhist community leaders at the Ministry of Religious Affairs' office here on Friday. He was accompanied by director general of Buddhist guidance, Supriyadi.

"I hope that during Vesak Day celebration, we do not lose its sacred elements. The sacred humanitarian aspects of Vesak should not be overshadowed by the celebratory aspects. The joy of the event should not overshadow its profound depth," he said.
