Jakarta, June 10 -- The mining sector is playing a critical role in supporting the transition to eco-friendly energy sources, according to an official from the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs.
At the Indonesia Miner Conference & Exhibition 2025 in Jakarta on Tuesday, the ministry's assistant deputy for mineral and coal development, Herry Permana, said that minerals extracted through mining are essential for producing goods and equipment that support the energy transition.
"This is about the provision of critical raw materials, including rare earth minerals and coal," he added, noting that these commodities are vital for manufacturing renewable energy technologies, such as electric vehicles, solar panels, and wind turbines.
