Medan, Dec. 11 -- The Medan City Government in North Sumatra has extended its disaster emergency status for 14 days, from December 11 to December 24, 2025.
The extension aims to optimize recovery efforts following the floods that struck the city on Thursday, November 27.
Medan Mayor Rico Tri Putra Waas said the extension was necessary because the city was still in the recovery phase.
"The Disaster Emergency Status in Medan City has been extended. We see that Medan is currently in the recovery process. Therefore, more intensive handling is needed during this extended emergency period," he said in Medan on Thursday.
