Jakarta, June 27 -- Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has said that both Malaysia and Indonesia support the Palestinian people's struggle for independence and agree on the need to push for everlasting peace in the Middle East.
While issuing a joint statement with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto in Jakarta on Friday, Anwar condemned Israel's genocide against Palestinians in Gaza, and highlighted the importance of resolving the conflict.
He said that Malaysia has consistently and firmly denounced Israel's actions in Gaza, which violate international laws. It has also been steadfast in its support for the Palestinians' right to live in an independent and sovereign state, he added.
