Jakarta, March 25 -- An earthquake with a magnitude of 4.9 on Tuesday shook Pangandaran District, a region renowned for its surfing spots along the southern coast of Java Island.
According to the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), the quake's epicenter was located at sea at coordinates 8.20 degrees South Latitude -107.98 degrees East Longitude, or 86 kilometers (km) southwest of Pangandaran, at a depth of 11 km.
The earthquake's tremors were felt in several nearby districts across West Java Province, such as Garut, Tasikmalaya, Pelabuhan Ratu, Bandung, and Banjar.
Authorities confirmed that no damage or tsunami risks have been reported following the earthquake.
