Jakarta, June 13 -- Senior legislator Junaidi Auly has expressed his support for the government's plan to build an "Indonesian Village" in Mecca and Medina, Saudi Arabia, to meet the needs of the country's Hajj and Umrah pilgrims.
The plan to build the Indonesian Village is well-founded, so the government can consider putting it on the strategic project list of sovereign wealth fund management agency Danantara, he said here on Friday.
He suggested that Danantara develop an investment scheme for the project by involving the Hajj Financial Management Agency (BPKH), state-owned enterprises, private partners, and the global sharia financial industry.
