Jakarta, July 17 -- Member of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), Netty Prasetiyani Aher, has urged the government to provide safe houses for pregnant women in vulnerable situations as a preventive measure against baby trafficking.

"Expand social protection services and shelters for unsupported pregnant women, including teenage girls who are victims of sexual violence," Netty noted in an official statement received in Jakarta on Thursday.

Her statement came in response to the recent disclosure of a baby trafficking case by the West Java Regional Police (Polda Jabar).
