Jakarta, May 30 -- The Indonesian government should make energy self-sufficiency a main mission in every national energy policy to achieve the Golden Indonesia 2045 vision, according to a legislator.

"If we aspire to become a developed nation by 2045, we must stand on a self-sufficient, just, and sovereign energy foundation," Dewi Yustisiana, a member of Commission XII of the House of Representatives (DPR), noted in a statement received here on Friday.

She emphasized that Indonesia cannot continue to rely on imports; therefore, achieving energy self-sufficiency is key to the country's progress.
