Jakarta, Sept. 3 -- Indonesian Law Minister Supratman Andi Agtas stated that deliberations on the Asset Confiscation Bill would reach a definitive conclusion more quickly if initiated by the House of Representatives (DPR) rather than the government.

The enactment of the bill has become one of the key demands voiced during the recent wave of demonstrations across the country. The legislation is expected to serve as an effective deterrent against various crimes, notably corruption.

"If initiated by the DPR, I believe the talks will conclude more quickly," Agtas said in Jakarta on Wednesday.
