Banda Aceh, Dec. 18 -- The land route to disaster-affected central areas of Aceh is now passable for vehicles, the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) announced on Thursday.

BNPB Disaster Data, Information and Communication Center head Abdul Muhari said access to the central region has reopened via the Simpang KKA Road, which connects North Aceh and Bener Meriah districts.

Several sections of the Simpang KKA route were damaged by landslides following heavy rainfall that hit Aceh in late November 2025.

Muhari said the restored land connection will speed up the movement of people and goods, including the distribution of humanitarian aid.
