Medan, N Sumatra, July 3 -- The North Sumatra Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) announced on Wednesday that wildfires ravaging the protected forest area near Lake Toba's Tele observation tower had been extinguished, though the area remains under close observation.

As part of the mitigation and prevention efforts, the agency stated that 11 additional firefighters and two more fire trucks were deployed to reinforce a joint team of personnel and several fire trucks previously dispatched to fight the wildfires.

The extra firefighters and fire trucks were focused in the Harian Sub-district, Samosir District, according to Head of the agency's emergency response, equipment, and logistics unit Sri Wahyuni Pancasilawati.
