Jakarta, July 5 -- Indonesia's General Elections Commission (KPU) viewed the recent Constitutional Court (MK) ruling, which mandates a minimum two-year gap between national and regional elections, as an opportunity to improve the election system.

"We should view the decision as a momentum to improve our election system," KPU Chairperson Mochammad Afifuddin stated during a public discussion at the Parliament Complex here on Friday.

The KPU is prepared to implement the MK ruling, as it has experience in conducting general elections under various election models, each with their own complexities.

"The electoral agency had carried out 'the most complex (election) worldwide in 2019 and 2024,'" he added.
