Jakarta, Sept. 14 -- Indonesia's National Police Commission (Kompolnas) has called for urgent reforms in the national police force (Polri), prioritizing digital tools, human rights, and robust oversight mechanisms.

Speaking in Jakarta on Sunday, Kompolnas Commissioner Muhammad Choirul Anam said reform efforts should build on existing frameworks. He stressed that these three pillars are essential to create a more professional, rights-based police institution.

"These can form the foundation - helping identify what must be strengthened, improved, or replaced. This could serve as a roadmap toward a humanist, rights-respecting police force," Anam said.
