Indonesia, March 16 -- "Perang Ketupat" (Ketupat War), a unique traditional event in West Bangka, Bangka Belitung Islands, has been recorded as a Communal Intellectual Property (KIK), a form of cultural heritage protection, by the Ministry of Law and Human Rights.

"We hope that the registration of this tradition as KIK can add economic value for the community," said head of the ministry's regional office in Bangka Belitung Islands, Harun Sulianto, on Sunday.

The office registered the tradition in order to protect the local tradition and culture.
