Jakarta, Dec. 11 -- The Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Kemkomdigi) is working to provide satellite-based telecommunications equipment to restore internet access in areas isolated by flooding in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra.
Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs Nezar Patria said the ministry is expanding emergency internet coverage by deploying telecommunications facilities in areas that remain cut off.
"We are trying to restore telecommunications access first. Without telecommunications, we cannot determine the condition of residents in the areas most severely affected by the floods," Nezar said, as quoted in a ministry press statement issued in Jakarta on Thursday.
