Jakarta, Aug. 11 -- Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati emphasized that cooperatives founded under the Red and White Village Cooperatives (KDMP) program are expected to help lower the prices of staple commodities.
"In addition to streamlining distribution chains, KDMP operations are also expected to lead to lower prices of staple goods," Indrawati stated via her Instagram account @smindrawati, as cited in Jakarta on Monday.
The minister further noted that the government envisions such cooperatives to boost farmers' exchange rate, create up to two million job opportunities, and enable more young people, women, and disabled individuals to contribute to rural economies.
