Jakarta, May 14 -- Indonesia's Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) has pledged to take action in response to alleged intimidation by its local branch in Banten, including establishing a standard operating procedure and forming an audit team.

"Kadin will set up a standard operational procedure on regional (branch) involvement in investment projects, including an ethics code on interacting with investors and contractors," the agency noted in a written statement on Wednesday.

This announcement follows reports of intimidation last week by individuals claiming to represent Kadin's Cilegon branch in Banten against PT Chengda, the main contractor for PT Chandra Asri Alkali (CAA), which is developing an investment project in the city.
