Jakarta, April 20 -- A total of 332 joint personnel were deployed to secure a peaceful demonstration held by the Indonesian Youth Alliance for Palestine and the Indonesian Muslim Student Alliance (AMMI) to support Palestine in front of the United States (US) Embassy in Jakarta on Sunday.
"We have deployed 332 joint personnel," said Central Jakarta Metro Police Chief Susatyo Purnomo Condro.
He emphasized that all security personnel were unarmed and prioritized a humanistic and professional approach in facilitating the demonstrators' right to express their views.
"None of the officers carried firearms," he confirmed.
Susatyo also urged protesters to maintain order and avoid provocation.
