Jakarta, Jan. 14 -- Jakarta's regionally owned enterprise, Perumda Dharma Jaya, plans to import 7,500 live cattle from Australia to secure the beef supply for city residents throughout 2026.

Perumda Dharma Jaya President Director Raditya Endra Budiman stated in Jakarta on Wednesday that the policy aims to stabilize supply and prices for strategic food commodities, particularly ahead of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr.

The planned imports are currently awaiting approval from the Trade Ministry.

"We are still waiting for import approval. Hopefully, it will be issued by the end of January so we can begin the purchasing process," Budiman said.
