Jakarta, Dec. 22 -- Jakarta Deputy Governor Rano Karno said the New Year celebration from 2025 to 2026 in Jakarta will be marked in a simple manner and without fireworks, among other reasons, due to unfavorable weather.

"The governor has said there will be no fireworks this New Year, so there will be no impression that we are being extravagant," he said here on Monday.

Jakarta, he noted, cannot avoid celebrating the New Year. "It can be observed, but on a modest scale," he added.

Based on forecasts from the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), Jakarta and its surrounding areas are expected to see rainfall of 50-150 millimeters during the second and third ten-day periods of December 2025.
