Jakarta, July 14 -- The Jakarta provincial government has expressed full support for the "Fathers Accompanying Children on the First Day of School" movement to strengthen parental involvement in education.

"We fully support this program as a means to strengthen parental involvement in education," Jakarta Deputy Governor Rano Karno stated here on Monday.

The program is initiated by the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education. He explained that the movement aims to encourage greater parental participation, especially from fathers, during the transitional period when children begin a new level of education.

However, Karno noted that civil servants (ASN) who intend to accompany their children to school must apply for leave.
