Jakarta, July 5 -- The provincial government of Jakarta is pushing for the establishment of designated smoking areas at entertainment venues, as envisaged by the Regional Regulation Draft on Smoke-Free Areas ( Ranperda KTR ).

"All entertainment venues, whether karaoke, clubs, or others, cannot be in public places where people smoke. However, they must provide a designated smoking area," Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung said on Saturday.

According to Pramono, the special rooms are meant to separate smokers from non-smokers.

Thus, visitors to entertainment venues will still be able to smoke, but only in a designated room, he said.
