Jakarta, Sept. 2 -- The Indonesian National Commission on Human Rights (Komnas HAM) declared that the fatal incident in which a police tactical vehicle struck and killed Affan Kurniawan, an online motorcycle taxi driver, during a riot constitutes a human rights violation.
"There is certainly a violation of human rights ... We will prove it," Komnas HAM commissioner Saurlin P. Siagian stated at the Police Professional Supervision and Development Division building in Jakarta on Tuesday.
He made the statement while representing the commission in a case review of the incident, which highlighted both ethical breaches and alleged criminal offenses.
