Jakarta, Dec. 14 -- Jakarta's provincial government said the 2025 Jakarta International Marathon (JAKIM) generated about 85 billion rupiah ($5.5 million) in revenue across multiple sectors in the capital, underscoring the growing economic impact of major sporting events.
Governor Pramono Anung said the international marathon provided a clear boost to local businesses, particularly micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), hotels and related services.
"The most concrete example is the Jakarta International Marathon. We calculated that it contributed roughly 85 billion rupiah from MSMEs, hotels and other sectors," Pramono told reporters in South Jakarta on Sunday.
