Jakarta, June 29 -- Jakarta must host more international-scale events-such as the 2025 Jakarta International Marathon (JAKIM)-to reinforce its image as a global metropolitan city, Deputy Governor Rano Karno said on Sunday.
"I fully support JAKIM. It's one of the ways we can move Jakarta closer to becoming a global city," he remarked.
Karno highlighted that JAKIM 2025 reflects international prestige, with runners from 51 countries participating across five marathon categories. He emphasized the need to regularly organize such events to raise Jakarta's global profile.
