Jakarta, Sept. 11 -- Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo has called for a standard operating procedure (SOP) to regulate excavation work and construction projects after repeated public complaints over traffic gridlock, particularly on TB Simatupang Road.

"We discussed this in a plenary meeting yesterday. Construction work without proper coordination must be avoided in the future," he said on Thursday.

The governor acknowledged that excavation projects had triggered public frustration several times.

To prevent further disruption, he insisted that such works be properly managed as they directly affect traffic flow.

"Therefore, everything must be formulated, including my request for an SOP for construction," Pramono added.
