Jakarta, Jan. 23 -- The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) reports that moderate to heavy rainfall is likely to persist across the Greater Jakarta (Jabodetabek) area over the next week.

BMKG forecaster Jatmiko stated on Friday that these conditions are driven by a strengthening Asian Monsoon and a cold surge from the Asian mainland, which have increased wind convergence over Java.

"Over the next week, there is still potential for moderate to heavy rainfall in most of the Greater Jakarta area," he said.
