Jakarta, April 22 -- The Jakarta Cathedral is planning a Requiem Mass for the late Pope Francis at 6 p.m. local time on Thursday, following the passing of the leader of the Roman Catholic Church in the Vatican.

Head of the Jakarta Cathedral, Cardinal Ignatius Suharyo Hardjoatmodjo, on Tuesday informed that the Requiem Mass will be led by the Vatican's Ambassador to Indonesia, who is a direct representative of the Holy See.

It will be attended by chairperson of the Indonesian Bishops' Conference (KWI) and several bishops, he added.

"I will also participate in the mass. Father Secretary has sent a letter to all parishes in the Jakarta Archdiocese to celebrate the Eucharist for the soul of Pope Francis," he continued.
