Jakarta, Dec. 18 -- Jakarta has begun developing 267 urban micro parks across neighborhoods to improve air quality, reduce extreme heat and raise living standards, as the capital accelerates efforts to position itself as a global city, officials said.
The micro parks, currently under construction at the sub-district level, form part of Governor Pramono Anung's priority agenda to address long-standing urban challenges such as flooding, traffic congestion and rising temperatures.
"Construction of 267 micro parks in urban villages, along with the revitalization of parks, lakes, ponds and reservoirs, is now under way," senior urban development adviser Nirwono Joga said on Wednesday.
