Jakarta, Nov. 25 -- Governor Pramono Anung announced Jakarta has officially prohibited the trade and consumption of dog and cat meat following the enactment of a governor's regulation.
Jakarta Regulation No. 36 of 2025, prohibiting the trade of rabies carrier meat for consumption, has been in force since November 24, 2025, Anung said on his official Instagram on Tuesday.
According to Article 27A of the regulation, the trade of rabies carrier animals for consumption, either as live animals or carcasses, or as raw or processed products, is outlawed.
Article 27B of the province-level ordinance further prohibits the slaughter or killing of rabies carrier animals for human consumption.
