Jakarta, July 20 -- The Jakarta provincial government has raised concern over obesity among civil servants (ASNs), as being obese is closely related to non-communicable diseases (NCDs).

Head of the Jakarta Health Office Ani Ruspitawati, in a statement here on Sunday, said obesity is closely related to the risk of NCDs such as hypertension, diabetes, stroke, and heart disease.

The statement referred to the results of a health screening conducted among ASNs in the Jakarta Provincial Government, which found that 62.09 percent were categorized as obese.
