Jakarta, Feb. 5 -- Indonesia Zakat Watch (IZW) has recommended the establishment of an Indonesian Zakat Commission as one of the steps toward reforming zakat governance and institutions.
"We recommend reforming zakat governance and institutions through the establishment of the Indonesian Zakat Commission," IZW member Arif Rahmadi Haryono said during a hearing with the House of Representatives (DPR) at the Parliament Complex here on Wednesday.
According to Haryono, the commission could later serve as a coordinator, regulator, and supervisor. Meanwhile, the National Amil Zakat Agency (Baznas) and the Amil Zakat Institute (LAZ) would remain operator institutions.
