St. Petersburg, June 21 -- President Prabowo Subianto has called on Iran and Israel to immediately de-escalate tensions and pursue peaceful solutions to their ongoing conflict.

He said he believes that Indonesia and Russia are on the same page on the matter, as reflected by Russian President Vladimir Putin's statements during their bilateral meeting at the Constantine Palace in Saint Petersburg, Russia, on Thursday.

"I am convinced that Russia has greater influence in the region due to its ties with the Iranian government. In other words, I believe the Russian government can play a pivotal role, and yes, all parties will strive for de-escalation," Prabowo added.
