Jakarta, Feb. 15 -- Iran's Ambassador to Indonesia Mohammad Boroujerdi urged Jakarta not to fear US tariff threats over trade with Tehran, saying bilateral ties remain beneficial and that Washington cannot dictate policy to independent nations.

Boroujerdi said Iran's economic relations with Indonesia and other countries continue despite pressure from the United States.

"I tell Indonesia not to be afraid. They can do nothing," Boroujerdi said in a special interview with ANTARA on Friday.

"Any company and any country that has regular relations with Iran benefits a lot," he added.

US President Donald Trump in January announced a 25 percent tariff on countries that continue trading with Iran, stepping up economic pressure on Tehran.
