Jakarta, June 17 -- Environment Minister Hanif Faisol Nurofiq has urged industrial parks to strengthen their commitment to environmental management, including controlling air pollution and managing waste.

"Industrial parks are not only the drivers of the economy but also the epicenters of environmental risks. If not handled seriously, the community will be affected the most," he said while reviewing 48 industrial parks in the Greater Jakarta area on Tuesday.

The review was conducted to determine the sources of pollution that have triggered a decline in Jakarta's air quality.
