Jakarta, Jan. 7 -- Indonesia's National Police counterterrorism unit, Densus 88, has reported a possible connection between a deadly school stabbing in Moscow and a recent bombing at a Jakarta high school.

Senior Commissioner Mayndra Eka Wardhana, spokesperson for Densus 88, said on Wednesday that investigators believe the Moscow attack was influenced by the November 7, 2025, explosion at North Jakarta's State Senior High School 72 (SMAN 72).

The blast at the school mosque injured dozens of students.

The Moscow incident occurred on December 16, 2025, when a 15-year-old student, identified as Mario Nawfal, attacked a school in the Gorki-2 settlement of the Odintsovo District, Moscow Region.
