Jakarta, Sept. 2 -- Indonesian National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo has directed officers to respect standard operating procedures while overseeing public protests, stressing the need to balance safety with citizens' rights to express opinions.
In a statement received Tuesday, Listyo said law enforcement must uphold regulations, protect public freedoms, and foster unity throughout protest management.
He delivered the message during a Monday evening briefing in Jakarta with security forces from both the National Police (Polri) and Armed Forces (TNI).
