Jakarta, Sept. 1 -- Deputy Speaker of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR), Eddy Soeparno, urged all levels of Indonesian society to work together to safeguard democracy from anarchy.

"In line with President Prabowo's commitment, I urge everyone to protect our democracy from all forms of anarchy and damage to public facilities. Peaceful demonstrations, dialogue, and collaboration can bring greater positive impact to the people we serve," he said in a statement in Jakarta on Monday.

His remarks came in response to President Prabowo's call for dialogue amid growing demonstrations in several regions.
