Jakarta, July 25 -- The Indonesian House of Representatives has expressed hope that President Prabowo Subianto and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will help mediate peace between Thailand and Cambodia, amid rising tensions along their disputed border.

Deputy Speaker Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, speaking at the parliamentary complex in Jakarta on Friday, said Indonesia maintains good relations with both Thailand and Cambodia.

"We plan to initiate communication in the hope that tensions in the ASEAN region do not escalate further," he stated.

Ahmad also raised concerns about the safety of Indonesian citizens currently residing in both countries, urging the Foreign Ministry to advise those in affected areas to remain calm.
