Jakarta, Nov. 7 -- Indonesia's Agriculture Ministry and sovereign wealth fund Danantara have agreed to accelerate agricultural downstreaming through an investment of Rp371 trillion (about US$22.2 billion) to strengthen national food self-reliance, Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman said Friday.
Speaking at a press conference after a final meeting on the initiative, Sulaiman said the program covers the agriculture, plantation, horticulture, and livestock sectors.
"Under the direction of President Prabowo Subianto, we are pursuing downstreaming with the Investment and Downstream Industry Minister and Danantara CEO Rosan Roeslani. The total planned investment is approximately Rp371 trillion," he said.
