Padang, West Sumatra, Dec. 18 -- Indonesia's Ministry of Human Rights is assisting flood survivors in Padang City, West Sumatra, through psychological recovery and trauma healing programs, an official said on Thursday.

Harmiayati, Acting Director General for Human Rights Instruments and Strengthening, said ministry teams provided psychosocial support in Koto Tangah Sub-district, one of the areas hardest hit by the floods.

She said the assistance targets not only children but also women, men, and elderly residents affected by the disaster.

Psychological recovery is crucial to restoring survivors' confidence and helping communities recover following fatalities and widespread damage to infrastructure, she added.
