Jakarta, April 17 -- The Indonesian government held a meeting on Wednesday with key figures from workers' unions to discuss President Prabowo Subianto's plan to establish a special task force aimed at addressing issues related to layoffs.
State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi and Cabinet Secretary Teddi Indra Wijaya represented the government at the meeting.
Jumhur Hidayat, chairperson of the All-Indonesia Workers Union Confederation (KSPSI), who also attended the meeting, said on Thursday that the discussion covered several key points related to worker protection.
"First, we exchanged views on companies that may be considering layoffs. Second, we discussed measures to prevent layoffs, such as reducing working hours," he said.
