Jakarta, Feb. 28 -- Indonesia's Minister of Social Affairs, Saifullah Yusuf, on Friday assured that social assistance and therapy programs for individuals with disabilities will continue despite budget efficiency efforts.
He said the budget allocated for the National Disability Commission (KND) was reduced to Rp3 billion (around US$361,000), contrary to some media reports.
"I want to clarify that, according to our data, the budget for KND was over Rp6 billion. After budget efficiency efforts, approximately Rp3 billion remains," he stated. "Therefore, the claim that it was reduced to Rp500 million is incorrect."
Yusuf said medical personnel and support staff for individuals with disabilities are continuing their work as usual.
