Jakarta, Sept. 23 -- The government is considering the possibility of transforming the State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) Ministry into an agency as part of the ongoing revision of the SOEs Law, State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi confirmed.

"It is possible for the government to demote the status of the SOEs Ministry, designating it as an agency. Yes, we are weighing that possibility," he told reporters after a meeting with the House of Representatives (DPR) in Jakarta on Tuesday.

Speaking at the Parliamentary Complex, Hadi explained that the option partly stems from the narrowing scope of the SOEs Ministry's role in Indonesia's investment landscape following the establishment of the sovereign wealth fund Danantara.
