Jakarta, Sept. 8 -- The Indonesian government officially welcomed KRI Brawijaya 320, a new frigate procured from Italy for the Indonesian Navy (TNI AL), at a dock in Tanjung Priok Port in North Jakarta on Monday.
Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, together with Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) Commander General Agus Subiyanto and National Police (Polri) Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, led the welcome ceremony for the vessel, which was built by the Italian company Fincantieri.
Heavily guarded by security personnel, the three leaders boarded the vessel, which had sailed for 44 days from Italy to Jakarta. They then inspected the ship's control room, hull, and helicopter deck, where the main ceremonial event was held.
