Jakarta, April 14 -- Indonesia's Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs, Nezar Patria, has urged the public to remain vigilant against scams involving artificial intelligence (AI), including deepfakes.

"We see that AI-generated videos are almost perfect. Not just ordinary people, but even experts can occasionally be deceived by videos or photos generated by AI, as they closely resemble the originals," Patria said in a statement issued on Monday.

He highlighted a new scam involving AI, in which fake money transfer evidence is used to trick customers into believing funds have been sent to their accounts.

"Transfer evidence can be fabricated - even holograms on the back can now be replicated," he noted.
