Jakarta, Dec. 18 -- Indonesia has warned that online scams pose a human security crisis and a regional threat that requires coordinated global action, Deputy Foreign Minister Arrmanatha C. Nasir said on Wednesday.

Speaking at a high-level session of the International Conference on Global Partnership against Online Scams in Bangkok, Nasir said online scams have evolved from isolated crimes into industrial-scale organized criminal activity.

"No country in the world can confront this threat alone. Our response must be collective, coordinated, and global in scope," he said, according to a Foreign Ministry statement issued on Thursday.
