Hambalang, W Java, Jan. 7 -- Indonesia's government on Tuesday urged police to investigate alleged acts of terror against a social media influencer critical of the authorities, saying intimidation has no place in the country's democratic life.

State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi said the reported incidents must be handled through a formal investigation to establish facts and ensure accountability for any wrongdoing.

"We ask that everything be properly investigated," Prasetyo told reporters during a cabinet retreat in Hambalang, Bogor, West Java.

He stressed that criticism, feedback and corrections of government policy were legitimate and protected, as long as they were conveyed through established and peaceful channels.
